Acts of Faith

3 comments:

  1. We have had three teenagers killed this past weekend in our community while walking down the highway by a drunk driver. This is such a tragic event to lose such young people. I have said many prayers for their families in that they receive God's comfort during this difficult time. I have also prayed for that of the 26 yr old young man who did this, and for his families. I brought my bible out to the place where it happened and spent a while there, asking God to help them all.

  2. After what seemed to be one of the more stressful days i've had in a long time, dealing with personal health issues and with other people in the educational system, not to mention the Culligan Man road rage situation I had just been through earlier, I decided to go and fill a prescription that was suggested by the doctor today. And while I waited patiently, trying desperatly to avoid any more controversy from the rest of the world, I sat quietly with my thoughts and prayed to God. I specifically prayed over the course of the day for God to help guide me in the situations I was facing, for Him to use His words in conversation, and not mine, and for Him to give me His courage to continue on. And throughout the day, episode after episode I was struck with challenges that questionned everything I had been praying for all day long. And I sat there wondering...*Did you hear me at all?* But the day continued, the stress kept rising, but I kept praying. *I just have to have faith that God's listening and knows everything in my heart* is what i told myself repeatedly throughout the day.

And so while waiting at the phramacy at the end of the day, an elderly lady sat down beside me and after a few moments, she asked me if I had been waiting long. I told her that I had been actually, but hadn't expected to. She then mentioned that she needed to phone a cab to get home, but didn't know how long to tell him to show up...would she be 10 minutes, 15 minutes? She wasn't sure. So i asked her if she had far to go. She said, just around the corner. And so I offered her a ride. :) She was so very thankful, and jumped on the offer right away. And this is God's work in action. "Faith without works is like a screen door on a submarine." a quote from a fellow Christian, Rich Mullins.

This day has been an act of faith all day long...knowing that if I just kept praying, those prayers would get answered... but if I thought for a moment it would be how *I* pictured it, I once again was dead wrong. And so I said *God Bless* as she exited my car, and she repeated the same words to me. Now it was done in God's name. She told me that she often is so surprised at some peoples kindness, but it sure makes her want to do something nice for someone else. And that is what Arking is all about. Spreading God's word. And when it feels *right* in your heart you know it's God's grace. Thank you to God for showing me how clearly He can speak to us all sometimes, if we chose to listen.

  3. My mother-in-law, who has passed away, visited me in my vehicle on my way to work. I was anxious about some medical tests I was having, and thinking about them. I then had this strong odour of onions in my vehicle. I stopped, looked under the seat for bad food, nothing. I kept driving, and rolled down the window for fresh air - it did not get rid of the odour. It was then that I realized, that my mother-in-law used to often cook with onions, and the odour was her. She arrived to sit with me, and alleviate my anxiousness about the tests, and to let me know there is nothing to fear. Before I got to work the onion odour was gone, and at that time, I was truly convinced it was her.
